Sangria is delicious. It is also deliciously simple. The best pitcher of Sangria I ever had was in Italy, in a sleepy mountain town in Abruzzo. It consisted of a carafe of the neighbor's house wine, and the freshest, peachiest peach sliced into the wine. That's it. It was pure heaven. 

Peaches like that come but once in a lifetime (unless you happen to live in Italy) so it helps to add some other fruits like citrus or berries, or even some extra spirits like brandy or vodka. But the most important thing is to use fresh seasonal fruit. You just can't go wrong with fresh fruit and wine.
